Lying across my bed and staring at the ceiling, I wondered why this case had taken so many odd turns and why Drak Detective Agency was still involved. Yes, there was a piece missing, and that missing piece might result in other people ending up dead. But, Leroy felt that he had the killer, and no longer needed my assistance. And, even if he was keeping something from me )which I’m sure he was), it shouldn’t be important. I had no client, no reason to be chasing these missing people and Drake Detective Agency had other business to attend to. We’d close it up here and head back to Memphis in the morning.
Sleep finally came with the soft patter of light rain on my cabin window. I was glad I’d made it a short day – tomorrow might be an even shorter one, and I would plan on spending most of it at the Starlight Lounge.
