It was the beginning of a new decade, Mount Saint Helen’s exploded nine months ago, the wolf population is no more in Wyoming, and Ronald Reagan was president. It was the last days of August, and the winter wind had that old familiar nip. Growing up in the mid west, I looked forward as a kid to the same old things. I loved to watch the leaves change and for school to start. Mostly just to see the girls but more importantly to get away from the house.
