“Bitch alert,” Libby said quietly, spotting their nasty neighbor waddled down her sidewalk to her mailbox. She glared at Bobby and his cousins, then directed her wrathful stare at Libby.
“Hi, Mrs. Watson. Beautiful day, isn’t it?” Libby’s smile was glued in place.
“Glad to see you’re finally getting that yard tended. They don’t pay you to stand there, young man.”
Bobby waved to her, calling her a few choice names in Spanish as he kept his voice polite.
“And don’t think you can sweet talk me!” She slammed her door, affirming what he’d suspected.
“Doesn’t speak a word of Spanish.”
“Good! That was nasty!” Libby looked slightly shocked.
He had forgotten she was very nearly fluent. “Why hide the truth? I’d better get to work or we won’t be done on time.”
