Her gazing around at the darkness of the room, she searched the shadows surrounding her. Licking her lips, her mouth felt dry, but she knew the kitchen would be a long trip down and back if she wanted a drink; she had forgotten her water bottle in her stupor. She drew a slow deep breath; just go back to sleep. Her lids slowly closing, she had drifted into a light slumber, when a hand clamped across her face, and a man flung his leg across to straddle her.
“Shh,” he hissed, leaning over her so that she could feel his words against her cheek; “Lay still, Sarah.”
