From “Day Trip” (425 Hillside) by Aaron R. Roberts

Ray day trip.jpg
One day may be all we have to make a memory of an event that seemed to be important.Dad is not too far behind me. I have to jump to get into the truck. If dad didn’t leave the truck door open a crack, I would not get the door open. I am short, and the truck is tall. Dad even has to jump a little. He grabs the steering wheel and hops at the same time. He said the truck needs to be this tall so he can go through high water so he can make it work. It is a four-wheeled drive so he can even make it in the mud and snow. It is a fun truck to ride in. Someday I hope it is mine. “I grabbed you lunch, you are going to have to scoot over, so I will have room to steer.” dad said with a smile.
