Dakota walks in while I’m sitting at the table. “Your guns Brother.”
“Thanks.” I don’t know what to say and look away from him. “Thanks for stepping in last
night.”
“The light of day makes everything look better. You will feel it soon.”
He walks out, and I replay that over and over. I hope he’s fuckin right. Looking at my guns I
have some doubt.
I think about calling Beth and telling her what a pussy I am, but throw it out. She doesn’t need
me shooting her and she sure as fuck doesn’t need another dead man in her life. She deserves
to be happy. She deserves everything, and I can’t even tell her I’ll be there for her tomorrow.
I drop my cup in the dishwasher and get to work.
Darren is at the door waiting for me to dismiss my first class. When the last Brother is out, he
closes the door. “Prez called me. He wants you to know that even if it’s through other people, he’s not letting go.” Jesus. I look
away. “With a message like that, I think I need to be right here letting you know I am too.”
“Thanks, VP.”
“No. Darren. You’re one of my closest Brothers. We grew up together. I’m Darren your friend, your family. Talk to me
Brother.”
I sit in the closest chair to me putting my head in my hands. “What’s to say? The fuckin nights of hell are worse. Dakota
showed taking my guns last night. Apparently, I wouldn’t have made it. I don’t even know when it’s happening.”
He sits on the side of me. “Fuck that’s bad Taylor. We can stay with you. We’ll alternate nights.”
I laugh. Fuckin great. “Deathwatch isn’t my style Brother.”
“From the looks of you – drinking isn’t either. If what’s happening right now isn’t working we need to come up with something
that does. I’m willing to give you whatever you need to get there.”
It all sounds so good but what the fuck kind of life is this? “I don’t know what the fuck I need but thanks.”
“What happened to your girl?” he asks standing up.
Fuck. “To avoid killing her in the middle of the night, I’m staying the fuck away.”
He looks at me. “That’s not a good thought, but she means something to you. I’d guess the same can be said for her. Did you
tell her what’s happening?”
I look away. “No. she lost her husband in the war.”
“Fuck that’s a fuckin blow to take. You need to talk to her even if it’s just asking for some time to get this shit straight.”
I shake my head. “I can’t even tell her how much time. What the fuck do I say? Hopefully, someone will show to keep me alive
for another day. She deserves to be happy, and I’ve got no future to give her.”
“I’ll talk to Prez. Talk to your girl. We’ll figure out a way to get through this and you to make that future.”
Whatever. I throw him a chin.

“I’m going to need someone full time if I keep getting pulled into Ops.”
He looks at me for a couple of seconds. “Are you looking to go back on Ops full time?”
Am I? I think about Sheila and Stella. I like how things are working right now. “Not yet.” He
nods smiling.
Jessie, Eliza, Dakota, Sheila, and Taylor come in. Sheila slides a grinder toward me. “Thanks,
Bella.” I know it’s an Italian.
She laughs. “No fuckin’ way.”
I eat while Prez gives us our jobs and we go over the maps and movements of each team.
Looks easy enough. We get our guns and ammo, and I kiss my girl before we get our helmets
on. “Why isn’t Eliza running?”
She waves her hand. “She got shot earlier, and Prez sidelined her.” She’s not happy with this.
“She got shot earlier.” I need to make sure I heard her right, it was an offhanded comment.
She looks at me. “Yeah, flesh. Pussy shot through the door.”
“Where were you?”
“Shooting the pussy.” She puts her helmet on and starts her bike.
I shake my head. They’ve been running all day, and she’s already killed a man. She went to eat and came back like it’s an
ordinary day and her partner gets shot. I fuckin’ love her. Eliza asks for check-in, and we all respond. The whole way there I’m
thinking about Sheila and how this all happened. She’s a Brother through and through, but her sweet is so fuckin’ deep.
It takes less than an hour to get the house clear of people then Dakota blows it up. Fire has been hosing the grass and trees the
whole time. We’re called back to Security and told to go to the Club. I look at Sheila not sure what to do. “Jess has her.”
I nod as we pick up our clean guns. I guess we’re going to the Club. I can’t get the thought out of my head. I’ve never felt this
way and Patches’ lists don’t cover talking to your woman unless you’re in bed.
I hold her hand walking in the Club. She asks if I’m okay and I smile at her wondering if I am. Dakota laughs behind me. “He
is wondering if you are all in too.”
My head snaps around. I can’t believe he just fuckin’ said that. She squeezes my hand, and I look at her. “Yes.” She pulls me
through the door, and Dakota laughs. Holy shit!
“Wait!” I stop her and wait for the fuckin’ nosy bastard to walk by. He laughs slapping my shoulder. “Yes, you’re all in? I’m
trying to figure out what the fuck I’m feeling and you’re all in?”
She looks at me, and I think she’s going to hit me. “If it’s a fuckin’ problem for you either get over it or walk away.”
She turns, but I don’t let her go. I lean down. “It’s not every fuckin’ day I’m hit with this. I love you are not words I say. Give
me a fuckin’ minute to get it, and we’re good. Throwing bitch at me isn’t the way to handle this, and you are not walking the
fuck away. All in means you find the common ground and deal.”

Some light BDSM.

I love the Baxter and MC stories. Jake and Zack have been two great support characters in both series. This is Jake’s story, but Zack finds his Old Lady too.

Jake works high security for the Baxter’s and is an associate member of the MC’s and runs HS for them when they have a need. Samantha, Sam, I am, is a resident physician finishing her training under Dr. Steve. She is deaf and mute. She was sexually assaulted three times in the hospital she was training at, the attacker not found. With the help of one of her professors, she is completing her training with the Baxter’s. Jake and Sam just click when they meet. She moves in with him, and Mitch and the old ladies are planning the wedding and reception. Pres presiding, of course.

Mitch in her never ending quest for making peoples lives better, develops a way to help Sam sense sound. Which she extends to Darren.

There is always a threat, and Lori and Sam are taken, and badly injured. It doesn’t slow either down. The Baxter’s and MC’s make it right. They even get justice for Sam against her rapist Baxter/MC style.

The attacks keep coming, and they are betrayed once again by trusted friends. The Baxter’s and MC’s close ranks and have each other’s backs.

I loved Jake and Sam’s story. Loved Zack and Lori’s wedding. Poor Daddy K, not taking his little girl growing up well. Love Steve Knight. A true Knight on a steel horse. Great addition to the series.
