A few weeks ago, I wrote an article for The Inflectionist discussing the meaning, relevance, and importance of “Political Correctness” – what is it, why is it, and where is it? The answer to the latter is rather simple: it is everywhere.
Especially in the recent years, Political Correctness has claimed its place. In the political, economical, and academic space, it has become increasingly significant and crucial to make an active and conscious effort to not “exclude, marginalise, or insult groups of people, who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against”.
It is due time our language mirrored the face of our society and incorporated ideas such as inclusion and respect and bared sentiments such as prejudice and discrimination.
