ABOUT DELLANI
Dellani Oakes is a former A.P. English teacher and photo journalist. Now working as a substitute teacher and Mary Kay consultant, she can give skin care & makeup advice, correct grammar, take pictures and write an article while controlling a classroom full of rowdy children.

Dellani was making up stories before she could read. Her first really cohesive work began when her older sister started school. Left to entertain herself, she invented an imaginary friend and would regale her mother with tales of Snowy Green and Rainbow School. These stories paved the way for songs and poems in elementary school and short stories in high school and college.

A college theatre major, Dellani took play writing. It became her new love. Scripts being dialog heavy and character driven, this aspect has followed her into her novel writing. She uses verbal exchanges & sparring as a way of revealing both plot and characterization.

Dellani had to set aside her love of writing when she began working as a teacher. Her creative energies were channeled into writing exams to make her students cry--although this wasn't usually intentional. Unfortunately, between that and motherhood, she didn't have time to write.

Once her youngest son started school in 2002, she was able to write full time. Her first novel, "Indian Summer", was published in 2008 by Second Wind Publishing. Also from Second Wind, her second novel, "Lone Wolf" made its debut in September 2011. "Lone Wolf" is the first in her science-fiction series. Book two of the Lone Wolf Series - "Shakazhan", came out in July of 2013.

In addition to her books published by Second Wind Publishing, Dellani has two novels with Tirgearr Publishing: "The Ninja Tattoo" and "Under the Western Sky"

Dellani is also a Blog Talk Radio host with two shows each month: Dellani's Tea Time 4:00 PM Eastern every 2nd Monday & What's Write for Me at 4:00 PM Eastern every 4th Wednesday. Look for her on Red River Radio Network. (Guests vary)

Your Captain Frankie Welcomes You Aboard

Angelic Airlines

I was inspired to write these travel books by our son Frankie, who is taking off in his aerospace career. I wanted to link up the children of the world on Angelic Airlines and take them to so many beautiful places of interest on our wonderful planet Earth with all its beautiful creations and resources.

I also wanted to educate our children and widen their scope of interest in appreciating their amazing surroundings, creations and nature as well as look after our environment for the many generations still to come. Captain Frankie enlightens and has fun with the children while flying them to so many beautiful destinations, teaching and connecting our children around the world from country to country and culture to culture. He builds bridges between children and parents as they read the book together and interest children in travel. My First Travel Book is a fun, informative, educational children’s book.

Why I chose these destinations.

This very bright, crispy morning, while sitting on our backyard balcony in the warm, lovely sun, drinking my Greek coffee with the birds happily singing and chirping in the background, my thoughts take me back to the time that I started writing our children’s book, My First Travel Book.

What was it in my heart at that particular moment that led me to choose these lovely destinations for Captain Frankie to fly to? Our beautiful beloved home where we lived and grew up, Zimbabwe, with her mighty, thunderous water of wonder, Victoria Falls. Our land of Africa with its wonderful wild animals and life, its stillness of natural beauty, its fascinating people. My country of birth and culture, Greece, with its ancient landmark, the Acropolis. Our present country of residence, the USA, the country of freedom, where the opportunity for Captain Frankie was given to take up the love of his life and career as a pilot, and her amazing, huge landmark, The Statue of Liberty. The land of Canada where our two sons were given their opportunities to reside with the mighty curtain of water so very powerful, The Niagara Falls. The Eiffel Tower where the beginning of our two sons' Canadian future paths began. This is the “beautiful bright sun shining light” that suddenly shone in my heart on this wonderful morning and which took me back to thinking of that particular moment of our angelic flights and choices of destinations in our children’s book with Captain Frankie.

“The Between Times are NOW!” By Robert Blake Whitehill
This review is from “The Between Times “(Jewell in the Dark Book 2)
Marta Moran Bishop’s “The Between Times” is a terrific allegory–until the sucker punch. You think you’re reading a dystopian story set in some future time. Then you suddenly realize Bishop is writing about right now: The Between Times is a period in which we still have a chance save all we hold dear. Fail to marshal our collective powers, and we fail as a society, a culture, as a nation state, and the beacon to the world that America has always been is snuffed, never to be reignited. Penned with all the visceral indictments of Sinclair’s The Jungle, we admire and pity Ben, fear for Jewell, grieve Roxanne and loathe Mr. Horton and his kind. There is a cliffhanger ending that made me need to know more. Will the uprising in The Between Times save us? This series would make fascinating movies.
