Why Sally writes:

I had dabbled on and off since my teens with poetry and song lyrics that were played out excruciatingly on my guitar. I was more focused on budgets and business reports until I decided to change career in my early 40s and studied nutrition. I was in the process of losing a lot of weight at the time and decided to write a journal that would become my first book in 1998. While I was waiting for that to be published I began writing short stories as practice pieces. I write in a number of genres mainly non-fiction for the books but also romance, fantasy and humour.
I find it is helpful for me to write both non-fiction and fiction in parallel and switch between the two. It stops me getting writers block and keeps me interested in both.

Sally’s bio:

My father was in the Royal Navy and as a child we spent a number of years abroad in Sri Lanka, Malta and South Africa. Great experience for a child and with the added advantage of sunshine and wonderful people to meet. After school I trained as a secretary and then as a dental nurse but I was drawn to the hospitality industry and worked in the licenced trade, catering and hotels for several years before moving into retail and telecommunications for another twenty-five years.
At that point I decided that I wanted to pursue a completely different career, one that I had always been fascinated with. I began studying nutrition and the human body twenty years ago and I opened my first diet advisory centre in Ireland in 1998. Over the last 18 years I have practiced in Ireland and the UK as well as written columns, articles and radio programmes on health and nutrition. I published my first book with a Canadian publisher in the late 90s and since then have republished that book and released eight others as part of our own self-publishing company. Apart from health I also enjoy writing fiction in the form of novels and short stories.
From 2004 I was a presenter with my own show on local radio and Internet television in Spain and the UK; running my own production company until 2013.
